This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced Senior Child Therapist at our Kew centre to join Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV).

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Kew, your responsibilities include setting up and coordinating the new child therapist service. You will deliver effective, high-quality assessment, counselling and therapy, to children and their families experiencing family separation and divorce to enhance child mental health outcomes. In addition, you will be able to apply your expertise in mentoring staff, building internal and external referral pathways, undertaking psychosocial assessments and evidence-based counselling modalities to respond to a diverse range of issues and concerns: including social and emotional enhancement, communication, relationships, coping with education, stress, depression and anxiety, aggression, family conflict, trauma, violence and abuse, parenting concerns, drug and alcohol issues, migration, blended families and other difficult experiences. 

This opportunity is located at our Kew Centre. We are committed to flexibility, offering this position part-time (3 or 4 days per week), as negotiated. Please indicate your preference in your application. This position is fixed term for 2 years. The base salary range is $109 - $114K (pro-rata) per annum with access to salary packaging benefits. 

About you

  • Degree in social work, counselling, family therapy or psychology.
  • Experienced providing child assessment, therapy and counselling.
  • Demonstrated skills in therapeutic modalities relevant to working with children individuals couples and families.
  • Ability to establish and coordinate a new child therapy service.
  • An understanding of family separation and divorce within the broader family law system.
  • Ability to undertake MARAM intermediate family violence assessments.
